Streetlight

A car once flooded with vibrant melodies

Is silenced by the hollow music that plays now,

Echoing on the empty passenger seat

Where you should be.

We used to think that calling Bloody Mary

three times in the dark

would make her appear, but

No matter how many times I play our song on a loop

You’re nowhere to be seen,

Still too far from me.

So I keep on keeping on, driving wherever the long way takes me,

Until my heart makes me steer

Towards the first place you kissed me,

Under the streetlight, to see if it looks

Any different than the way I remember it.

But the only thing that’s changed since then is your mind.
